   Mission

“To facilitate learning through advancement and dissemination of knowledge, skills and attitudes vital to holistic development of learners and to be a world class learning centre imparting quality education to learners irrespective of socio economic background and facilitate the learner to transform into an integrated personality”.

The vision and mission of the College find reflection in institutional activities.

             Through admission policy, organization of academic programmes and dissemination of information through prospects and media, the stake holders are informed about the goals and objects of the institution.The Vision and Mission Statements have been displayed in the college on each floor at prominent places, like staff common room, HODs’ rooms, Gymkhana, Ladies room, Library and all departments. It is printed on the first and last cover page of our prospectus. It is also displayed on our web site. Our Principal highlights the Vision & Mission to the students during ‘Inaugural Lecture’ delivered on the opening day of the college, for every class.

The College holds the distinction of being the biggest co-educational college in the Rayalaseema region. It continues to retain its unique character out of its conviction that  equality is a must for any society to develop, and this can come only through equality at all levels of education and in all areas of work. Along with facilitating the participation of young men and women in higher education, its efforts are directed at providing a holistic education that encourages critical and independent thinking and fosters the growth of individuals who bring to society a sound value orientation.

The College offers undergraduate programs in Arts and Sciences. All the academic programs of the College follow the curricula prescribed by the Boards of Studies of the respective departments. Through the transaction of the adopted curricula, the college strives to encourage the development of its students into independent-thinking individuals and lifelong learners who are contributing members of the society. The curricular relevance in terms of the areas specified is as follows:

a) Access to disadvantaged

The College contributes to the goal of achieving equality in higher education. It provides opportunities for boys and girls from disadvantaged groups in society to participate in higher education by providing for reservation in all its academic programs as per government guidelines. Further the College maintains a Student Welfare Fund to provide financial support to needy students in their pursuit of higher education.

b) Equity

The College seeks to create an equitable learning environment by trying to address the learning needs of all students and to facilitate this it has initiated, along with other measures, the use of ICT tools.

c) Self-development

The College creates an environment for student participation in co-curricular activities like debates, quizzes, seminars, play readings and drama workshops. Students are encouraged to participate in field trips.

d) Community & National Development

Through its efforts at imparting a holistic education, the College prepares students who contribute to their community and the nation.

e) Ecology and Environment

The curriculum adopted by the College includes the UGC recommended Environmental Studies Module for the first degree course. The College encourages its students to take up environment-related activities outside this course, examples of which are a project on Garbage Disposal in Mahanandi and a Tree Plantation drive undertaken in collaboration with the Social Forestry Department and local NGO’S.The College also runs an Environmental Care programme and has undertaken the ‘Clean and Green’ initiative, with participation by its NSS Volunteers.

f) Value Orientation

Through its initiatives in gender sensitization, community service and environmental care, the College seeks to give a value orientation to its curriculum.

g) ICT Introduction

The College has a 100 hours Computer Literacy course to encourage its students to pick up ICT skills. Faculty members are encouraged to use multimedia teaching resources and the College has initiated the installation of an asynchronous learning network to support face- to- face instruction.

 

The goals and objectives of the Institute are:

1. To provide higher education to the students of the backward region of Andhra Pradesh - Rayalaseema - as well as from other areas in the State of Andhra           Pradesh.

2. To impart skill oriented education that enables the learners to improve employable competencies in the context of changing economic order.

3. To impart quality education without discrimination in terms socio-economic and other variables like religion, political affiliation etc.

4. To contribute to societal advancement and national development by imparting ethical and spiritual values to learners.

5. To help women by empowering them through education and skills.

6. To help liberate the minds of the youth of the area by providing qualitative education.

7. To introduce ICT enabled education to facilitate the learners to acquire global level competencies.

8. To inculcate among the students a sense of community service and environmental awareness.

9. To create research temper in the young minds.
